What it’s about. 23 Episoden Deutsche Erstausstrahlung: 19.07.1990 Sat.1 18-tlg. US-Gruselserie von William Castle (Ghost Story/Circle Of Fear; 1972). In sich abgeschlossene gruselige Kurzgeschichten, die anfangs oft von Vampiren und Geistern handeln, werden in dieser Serie erzählt. Winston Essex (Sebastian Cabot) führt in die Episoden ein, die im New Yorker Hotel Essex House spielen und in denen wechselnde Darsteller in den Hauptrollen mitwirken. Nach der Hälfte der Folgen wurde das Konzept geringfügig geändert und Cabot aus der Serie gestrichen. Im US-Original wurde zu diesem Zeitpunkt auch der Titel geändert.
