What it’s about. Der italienische Maurer Giuseppe arbeitet als Saisonnier in der Schweiz. Nach dem Tod seiner Frau holt er seinen 6-jährigen Sohn zu sich. Damit kommt er mit dem Schweizer Saisonnierstatut in Konflikt: Kindern von Gastarbeitern war der Aufenthalt in der Schweiz verboten. Der Junge muss sich in der Wohnung verstecken und lebt mit der ständigen Angst, entdeckt zu werden und das Land verlassen zu müssen. Der Film von Alvaro Bizzarri, der selbst aus Italien als Gastarbeiter in die Schweiz emigrierte, ist zum Symbol des Kampfes gegen das Saisonnier-Statut geworden, das bis 2002 in Kraft war.
