What it’s about. Soul Train ist eine US-amerikanische Musik- und Unterhaltungsshow, die von 1971 bis 2006 im Syndication-Fernsehen ausgestrahlt wurde. In ihrer 35-jährigen Geschichte präsentierte die Show hauptsächlich Auftritte von R&B-, Soul- und Hip-Hop-Künstlern, aber auch Funk-, Jazz-, Disco- und Gospelkünstler waren zu sehen. Die Serie wurde von Don Cornelius entwickelt, der auch als erster Moderator und Executive Producer fungierte. Die Produktion wurde nach der Saison 2005/06 eingestellt, anschließend wurden zwei Jahre lang Wiederholungen ausgestrahlt. Als Hommage an die lange Laufzeit von Soul Train enthielt der Vorspann die Behauptung, es handele sich um die „am längsten laufende, landesweit syndizierte Erstausstrahlung in der Fernsehgeschichte“ mit über 1.100 produzierten Episoden von der Premiere bis zur Saison 2005/06.
