What it’s about. Während der letzten beiden Jahre des Ersten Weltkriegs nehmen ein Wildhüter und seine Frau in ihrem Haus am Rand eines Waldes drei zehnjährige Pariser Jungen auf, die aus der Stadt aufs Land evakuiert wurden, während ihre Väter an der Front dienen. Für die Kinder ist das Landleben ein großes Abenteuer, auch wenn die Schatten des Krieges und die epochalen Veränderungen jener Zeit sich auch in der friedlichen Dorfgemeinschaft ahnen lassen. Die siebenteilige Fernsehserie von Maurice Pialat stimmt in impressionistisch anmutenden Bildern zunächst ein Lob aufs Landleben an und entwickelt sich dann zur einfühlsamen Coming-of-Age-Geschichte.
