Bald schließt Pippi Langstrumpf Freundschaft mit den Nachbarkindern Tommy und Annika und macht die Bekanntschaft mit zwei stadtbekannten Gaunern, die es auf Pippis Goldschatz abgesehen haben. Und dann ist da auch noch die Leiterin des örtlichen Jugendamts: Fräulein Prüsselius will unbedingt für eine ordentliche Erziehung des armen kleinen Kindes sorgen und Pippi ins Kinderheim stecken.
