What it’s about. Der kleine Toby Tyler (Kevin Corcoran) lebt um 1900 als Waise bei seinem Onkel und seiner Tante. Als sein Onkel ihn eines Tages unfair behandelt, rennt Toby davon, just an dem festlichen Tag, als der Zirkus in ihre Stadt kommt. Dort wird Toby eine kleine Anstellung angeboten, so daß er längere Zeit bei dem Jahrmarkt bleiben kann und sich mit den verschiedenen Artisten und Künstlern anfreundet. Als der Partner der Reiterin Jeanette (Barbara Beaird) sich bei einer gefährlichen Übung verletzt, wird angeregt, daß Toby dessen Platz einnimmt, weil er bereits einige Übung im Reiten besitzt. Toby trainiert hart für die Nummer, doch er ahnt nicht, daß der Zirkuschef Tupper inzwischen Nachrichten von Tobys Onkel und Tante erhalten hat und diese zugunsten seiner neuen Attraktion zurückhält...
