What it’s about. Dezember 1941, Nordwestfront: Eine deutsche Panzerkolonne bewegt sich in Richtung Moskau. Während einer Mission, den Vormarsch des Feindes zu stoppen, wird die IL-2 von Nikolai Komlev abgeschossen. Komlev gelingt die Bruchlandung seines Flugzeugs auf einer abgelegenen Waldlichtung auf feindlichem Territorium. Nachdem er gegen Hunger und extreme Kälte gekämpft und Wolfsrudeln und deutschen Soldaten ausgewichen ist, schafft es der verwundete Komlev endlich zurück in Sicherheit.
