What it’s about. Die Sträflinge Serge, Fourbieux und Kopetzky sind aus einem Gefängnis nahe Nizza entflohen. Von einem Dorf am Meer aus wollen sie mit dem Schiff in Richtung Freiheiten türmen. Falsche Pässe und Geld müssen dafür aber erst mal her. Kopetzky hatte vor seiner Inhaftierung seiner Freundin Barbara dreihunderttausend Francs gegeben. Dieses Geld will Serge bei ihr abholen. Sie lebt mit dem Fotografen Blanche zusammen, der wiederrum hatte ihr die Moneten abgenommen. So erpresst Barbara den Betrug von einem jungen Verehrer. Das Schicksal aber meint es nicht gut mit den Beteiligten...
