What it’s about. Der zurückhaltende Jonathan McQuarry arbeitet als Buchprüfer und lebt daher in einer Welt, die nur aus Zahlen, Daten und Rechnungen besteht. Als er schließlich eines Abends den weltläufigen Anwalt Wyatt Bose kennenlernt, zeigt ihm dieser, dass die Welt nicht nur aus Zahlen, sondern auch aus Spaß und Lebensfreude bestehen kann. Kurz darauf vertauschen die beiden versehentlich ihre Handys – ein folgenschwerer Irrtum, denn als eine Frauenstimme Jonathan am Telefon fragt, ob er heute Abend frei ist, wird er in „Die Liste“ hineingezogen, einem Sexclub für VIPs., wo er seiner Traumfrau begegnet. Doch Jonathan ahnt nicht, dass das Ganze durchaus nicht auf einem Versehen beruht, sondern durch Wyatt von langer Hand vorbereitet war…

How it landed. With an audience score of 5.9/10, Deception has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $18M at the box office.
