What it’s about. Der intelligente Malcolm steht kurz vor dem Sprung aufs College. Sein Traum ist es, von der Elite-Universität Harvard angenommen zu werden. Kein leichtes Unterfangen, denn Malcolm lebt in den Bottoms, einer gefährlichen Nachbarschaft in Inglewood, Kalifornien. Als Malcolm und seine besten Freunde Jib und Diggy eines Nachts auf eine Party des Drogendealers Dom gehen, damit Malcolm bei der hübschen Nakia landen kann, nimmt das Schicksal seinen Lauf. Es kommt zu einer Polizei-Razzia und Dom versteckt jede Menge Stoff in Malcoms Rucksack. Der ist daraufhin gezwungen, das Zeug gewinnbringend loszuwerden, um den skrupellosen Drogenboss Austin Jacoby nicht zu verärgern. So beginnt für Malcolm und seine Freunde ein turbulenter Spießrutenlauf am Rande des Gesetzes, der sie für immer prägen wird.

How it landed. With an audience score of 7.1/10, Dope has been warmly received by audiences. It went on to earn $18M at the box office.
