Released in 2005, Yamato - The Last Battle is a krieg and historie film directed by Jun'ya Satô, running about 143 minutes.

What it’s about. In den frühen 40er Jahren befindet sich Japan auf Eroberungsfeldzug in Südostasien, doch hat es jetzt die USA zum Gegner und verspürt erstmals Gegenwind. 1943 muss auch der frisch verliebte Teenager Kamio einrücken und landet auf dem schon damals legendären kaiserlichen Schlachtschiff Yamato. Dort wird er zum Geschützmann ausgebildet, schließt neue Freundschaften und ächzt unter der Knute strenger Offiziere. Als 1945 eine Niederlage absehbar wird, geht nach dem Modell der Kamikaze auch die Yamato auf Selbstmordmission.
