Während des algerischen Unhabhängigkeitkampfes von Frankreich in 1961, desertiert Thomas Vlassenroot zusammen mit seinem Leutnant aus der französischen Fremdenlegion und sie entführen für die pro-französische Terrororganisation OAS die Anwältin Dominique Servet. Nach einem Konflikt mit seinen Komplizen befreit er Dominique und sie fliehen auf getrennten Wegen nach Frankreich. Thomas wird bei der Flucht angeschossen und sucht Dominique in Lyon auf, nicht ahnend dass Mitglieder der OAS auf der Suche nach Dominique sind.
