What it’s about. Im April 2004 kommt es in der irakischen Stadt Kerbela (arabisch: Karbala) während eines islamischen Feiertags zu einem Aufstand von Extremisten, die dem radikalen Milizenführer und Schiiten-Politiker Muqtada as-Sadr nahestehen. Die Stadt wird komplett von der Außenwelt abgeschnitten. Rund 40 polnische und rund 40 bulgarische Soldaten stehen nun ohne Essens-, Ausrüstungs- und Munitionsnachschub einer feindlichen Übermacht gegenüber. Sie müssen um ihr Leben kämpfen – für mehrere Tage und Nächte. Basierend auf wahren Begebenheiten erzähltes Drama über die ersten Kriegshandlungen, in die polnische Soldaten nach über 50 Jahren involviert waren.
