Der in Johannesburg geborene Joe Vaz war Schauspieler und Drehbuchautor und vor allem für seine Rollen in „Good Omens“ (2019), „Black Sails“ (2014) und „Dredd“ (2012) bekannt. Er begann seine Karriere als Musicaldarsteller, bevor er zum Film und Fernsehen wechselte. Joe leitete außerdem die Indie-Filmproduktionsfirma Inkless Media, die mit geringem Budget arbeitete und die drei Kurzfilme „Play by Heart“ (2005), „Blue Valentine“ (2005) und „Beyond Words“ produzierte.
