Roland Emmerich ist ein deutscher Filmregisseur, Drehbuchautor und Produzent, der für seine Arbeit an Katastrophen- und Actionfilmen wie Independence Day, Godzilla, Der Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow und 2012 bekannt ist. Sein Debüt war der deutsche Science-Fiction-Film „Das Arche-Noah-Prinzip“, der gleichzeitig seinen Abschluß an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München darstellte. 1985 gründete er zusammen mit seiner Schwester Ute Emmerich die Filmproduktionsgesellschaft Centropolis Entertainment.
