The Scottish biologist Ian McKenzie, who lives in seclusion in a secluded castle, has discovered the key to immortality and injected a kind of immortality gene into fruit flies. After McKenzie's death, Jeroen de Groot and his girlfriend pursue his research and get into a fight because she´s not interested in the moral issues that arise from this work. The scientists at the Palais are investigating a group of people who have been told they have achieved immortality by injecting them with a certain drug.
