What it’s about. Frank Manatta llega desde su Sicilia natal al Chicago de la depresión y la ley seca. Allí se reúne con su hermano Salvatore, un pequeño gangster que regenta un club nocturno y trafica con licores, bajo la poderosa mano del capo local que se encuentra en prisión, y sus mejores hombres, O'Connor y O'Brien, quienes llevan todo. Frank no se conforma con ese pequeño trozo del pastel, y aspira a mucho más. Los intereses contrapuestos producirán una guerra entre los distintos grupos mafiosos.
