What it’s about. Tres frailes crían al niño Antonio, abandonado en la puerta del convento. El ateo cacique Roque quiere casar a su hijo Melchor con la joven Lucha, pero ella quiere al manso Antonio, que se deja golpear por Melchor. Lucha reprocha a los frailes el modo en que han educado a Antonio y entonces lo enseñan a usar látigo, a boxear y a montar. Así el vence a Melchor en pelea a puñetazos por todo el pueblo. Días después Melchor felicita a los recién casados Lucha y Antonio. El cacique es detenido por sus malos manejos.
