What it’s about. Juan, proveniente de Altamira, Tamaulipas, llega a la estación del tren de la capital y es asaltado por Gus. Como éste sólo encuentra diez pesos en la cartera, cree que Juan trae más dinero y le ofrece alojamiento en su cuarto de vecindad para que pague la renta. Juan se dedica a cantar y Gus hace de su representante. Juan también tiene éxito en la carpa de la cantante Susana, juntos cantan en el teatro Azteca y el radio, pero ella no corresponde al amor de Juan. Como quiere triunfar sola se va a cantar sin éxito a Guadalajara. Juan la ayuda y cuando enferma del corazón ella acepta casarse. Visitan junto con Gus a la madre de Juan. Gus ve besarse a Susana con Manuel, hermano de Juan. Éste renuncia a su amor por Susana y deja que sea feliz con Manuel.
