What it’s about. A priuncipios del siglo XIX, los Blackwood, Jennifer (Sarah Miles), su marido John (Harris Yulin) y su hermano Matt (Stacy Keach) llegan a la frontera de Ohio, con la 'intención' de comprar unas tierras, asentarse, trabajarlas y formar una familia. Al poco de empezar a trabajarlas, a Matt se le ocurre la idea de meterse en el negocio de la "construcción" de carretas, después del comienzo de la fiebre de viajar al oeste en busca de nuevas oportunidades.
