Todo ello a causa del "Referéndum Unilateral del 1 de octubre del 2017". Son juzgados y condenados en la misma sala que se condenó a prisión al President de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Lluís Companys, que más tarde fue ejecutado por el fascismo. Curiosamente, en esta misma sala está presente Vox, un partido de extrema-derecha, representando la acusación popular.
