What it’s about. El joven de 14 años Homer Macauley está decidido a ser el mensajero de telegramas más rápido sobre una bicicleta que jamás se haya visto. Su hermano mayor se ha ido a la guerra, dejando a Homer al cuidado de su madre viuda, su hermana mayor y su pequeño hermano Ulysses, de 4 años. Y así es como durante el verano de 1942 el joven Homer repartió mensajes de amor, esperanza y muerte a la buena gente de Ithaca, pero sobre todo del departamento de guerra, esos mensajes que comienzan con "Lamento comunicarle que...".
