Un psicópata tiene aterrorizada a California y en concreto a la ciudad de Los Angeles: se dedica a llamar por teléfono a un programa de radio desde su coche antes de cometer un nuevo asesinato en la autopista. La policía no sabe quién es, pero hay una enfermera que según van llegando al hospital las víctimas del psycho-killer descubre que todos los asesinatos siguen un patrón que ella conoce, puesto que su marido fue asesinado dos años atrás en las mismas circunstancias. Con el apoyo de un ex-policía tan obsesionado como ella por este criminal iniciará su caza para vengarse y así sacarlo del asfalto para siempre.
