Running Target (1956): cast, story & where to watch

Released in 1956, Running Target is a crime, romance and western film directed by Marvin R. Weinstein, running about 82 minutes. “Taste the terror . . . Smell the fear . . . Experience the raw, naked panic of a Running Target!” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. In the Colorado Rockies, Sheriff Scott, heads a posse that is after four escaped convicts, and thought it is his sworn duty to return the men dead or alive, he is, as always, reluctant to kill his fellow man. He is accompanied by Jaynes, a tavern owner, who takes much delight in his telescopic rifle, and by "Smitty," a gas station held up the escapees and more than ready to show she can be as tough as any man, although she seems to have some other motive for getting to the leader of the convicts, Kaygo.

Who’s in it. Running Target stars Doris Dowling as Smitty, Arthur Franz as Scott, Richard Reeves as Jaynes and Myron Healey as Marty Kaygo, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 6.0/10, Running Target has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response.
