Lissi and the Wild Emperor (2007): cast, story & where to watch

Released in 2007, Lissi and the Wild Emperor is a comedy and animation film directed by Michael Herbig, running about 85 minutes.

What it’s about. The plot concerns a yeti who makes a pact with the devil to kidnap the most beautiful girl in the world. This turns out to be the Princess Lissi, who is clearly the Austrian Princess and later Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, and much of the film is taken up with subplots related to the court and to the romantic relationship between Elisabeth and her husband. The film is thus a comic parody of the Sissi films.

Who’s in it. Lissi and the Wild Emperor stars Michael Herbig as Lissi/Ignaz/Falthauser (voice), Christian Tramitz as Kaiser Franz (voice), Waldemar Kobus as Yeti (voice) and Rick Kavanian as König Bussi von Bayern/Feldmarschall (voice), among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 5.8/10, Lissi and the Wild Emperor has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $29.7M at the box office.
