Ultraviolet (2006): cast, story & where to watch

Released in 2006, Ultraviolet is an action, thriller and science fiction film directed by Kurt Wimmer, running about 87 minutes. “The blood war is on.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. In the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease, giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence. As they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population. In the middle of this crossed-fire is - an infected woman - Ultraviolet, who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the human government as he is believed to be a threat to humans.

Who’s in it. Ultraviolet stars Milla Jovovich as Violet Song Jat Shariff, Cameron Bright as Six, Nick Chinlund as Ferdinand Daxus and Sebastien Andrieu as Nerva, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 5.2/10, Ultraviolet has proved divisive with audiences. It went on to earn $31.1M at the box office.
