There are 10 indigenous ethnic groups in this region, the largest being the Acehnese people. Aceh is thought to have been the place where the spread of Islam in Indonesia began. The Transgenders have their own personal hopes and dreams for a fulfilled and satisfying life. However, people in Aceh often label LGBT as criminals, mentally ill and prostitutes.
