Doomsday (2008): cast, story & where to watch

Released in 2008, Doomsday is an action, thriller and science fiction film directed by Neil Marshall, running about 108 minutes. “Mankind has an expiration date.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. The lethal Reaper virus spreads throughout Britain—infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands. Authorities brutally and successfully quarantine the country but, three decades later, the virus resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

Who’s in it. Doomsday stars Rhona Mitra as Eden Sinclair, Bob Hoskins as Bill Nelson, Adrian Lester as Sergeant Norton and Alexander Siddig as Prime Minister John Hatcher, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 5.9/10, Doomsday has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $22.5M at the box office.
