Extremities (1986): cast, story & where to watch

Released in 1986, Extremities is a thriller and drama film directed by Robert M. Young, running about 89 minutes. “When fear made her a victim, she turned fear into a weapon.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. A woman escapes from the man who is about to rape her, but leaves her purse behind. Afraid that her attacker might come after her, she goes to the police, but with no proof of the incident, they can do nothing. In fact, the man does use the information in her bag and comes to her apartment with the intent of rape, but she sprays him in the face with insect repellent, and then holds him captive. She is then faced with deciding whether to go to the police who might not believe her and release him, or to kill him.

Who’s in it. Extremities stars Farrah Fawcett as Marjorie, James Russo as Joe, Alfre Woodard as Patricia and Diana Scarwid as Terry, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 6.1/10, Extremities has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $13.4M at the box office.
