What it’s about. La jeune et belle Lita chante et danse dans un sordide bar à marins de Marseille. Une nuit, elle s'amourache d'un marin, Jerry Flanagan, et accepte de l'épouser. Malheureusement, l'un de ses anciens prétendants lui fait des avances et une terrible bagarre, entre l'époux de Lita et son Ex, éclate. Jerry tue son rival et se retrouve condamné à finir ses jours au bagne de Guyane. Les seules femmes autorisées à entrer sur l'île du Diable étant les épouses des gardiens, Lita, ne pouvant vivre sans l'amour de sa vie, est prête à épouser le chef des gardes.
