What it’s about. D'origine italienne, Matteo Belmonte a repris avec sa femme Christine la bijouterie de ses beaux-parents dans une petite ville du sud de la France. Lorsqu'un jour, un homme fait irruption dans leur magasin, tout bascule. Pointant une arme vers Christine, l'inconnu réclame le contenu des présentoirs. Mais cette dernière refuse d'obtempérer : en quelques mois, c'est la troisième fois qu'ils sont victimes d'un cambriolage. Tandis que le ton monte, Matteo s'empare d'un revolver et, craignant pour la vie de son épouse, fait feu à deux reprises. Touché à l'abdomen, le voleur rejoint un complice avec lequel il s'enfuit en scooter. À quelques rues de là, Romy, la fille des bijoutiers, se précipite près d'un homme qui s'écroule, inanimé, sur la chaussée…
