Maintenant se pose à lui ce choix cornélien : devenir un "enrôlé de force" et partir sur le front russe tirer sur les Alliés ou bien se transformer en "réfractaire" et se terrer au fond d’une mine pendant de long mois sans voir la lumière du soleil, dans le froid et dans l’humidité, avec comme seul espoir celui de la Libération.
