What it’s about. Michel et Nicole ont divorcé. Ils ont une fille un peu fragile, Sophie, qui supporte plutôt mal cette séparation... C'est en pensant à elle, et pour mieux l'aider à traverser cette épreuve, que Michel, profitant de ce que l'appartement d'en face est à vendre, l'achète et l'occupe. Ils sont là, face à face depuis deux ans, chacun essayant de refaire sa vie. Mais ce face à face va s'avérer plus difficile à vivre qu'ils ne le pensaient, car Paul et André tournent autour de Nicole tandis que Michel, toujours amoureux de sa femme, trompe son ennui avec Annie, mariée de son côté. Alors que Paul vient chercher Nicole pour passer la soirée au théâtre, Michel va désamorcer chaque bombe avec panache et tenter de reconquérir Nicole qu'il n'a jamais cessé d'aimer.
