What it’s about. L’argument : Ivan Sergueïevitch Trofimov est jockey à l’hippodrome de Moscou. Maroussia, sa petite-fille, arrive pour la première fois dans la capitale. Obligé de prendre sa retraite Trofimov rejoint à contre coeur sa campagne natale. Au kolkhoze, il repère le cheval Egorka dont il veut faire un champion. Mais le président du kolkhoze, Zot Iakovlevitch, échange Egolka contre une automobile. Trofimov et Vassia, le palefrenier, retrouvent le cheval et l’entraînent pour les épreuves de trot au cours desquelles Vassia et Egolka vont remporter une victoire qui déjoue tous les pronostics.
