What it’s about. Devant régler une affaire de succession, le clerc de notaire Albert Kovac (Walter Brandi) se rend dans un petit village d’Europe de l’Est. Sur place, il apprend que son client, Jeronimus Hauff est en fait décédé depuis près d’un an. Attiré par la veuve, Cléo (Barbara Steele), Albert accepte son hospitalité pour quelques temps. Il va alors découvrir que Mr Hauff était passionné par l’occulte et par la grande épidémie de peste noire, jusqu’à conserver et exposer des membres de pestiférés.
