What it’s about. Jeanne G, 50 ans, est plongeuse dans un restaurant important de sa ville. Elle habite dans la rue pavée et tortueuse d'un quartier populaire. Jeanne est malade, et son mari la terrifie de plus en plus: sans métier défini, il boit et son agressivité se manifeste jour après jour. Elle se porte notamment sur sa fille Catherine, 17 ans, vendeuse. Catherine G veut s'en aller, gagner beaucoup d'argent, chanter. Un jour Catherine suit un homme et disparait. Madame G désespérée, tente de trouver du réconfort auprès de son fils. Mais ce dernier, marié, doit s'occuper de sa famille. Alors un soir, après avoir quitté son travail, Madame G tue son mari alcoolique et commence à attendre la mort, abandonnée de tous, usée, dans sa rue promise aux démolisseurs. Elle en sera la dernière survivante
