Face aux tragédies familiales et aux amours non partagés, il abandonne presque. Cependant, Louis se rend à Vienne pour étudier auprès de Haydn en 1792, et le reste appartient à l'histoire. Qui était cet homme dont la musique a depuis touché d’innombrables cœurs et esprits ? A la fin de sa vie, le maître se retrouve isolé par la perte des proches et de l'audition.
