What it’s about. Aux yeux du monde, c'est Maia, la fille du roi de Jarma, qui est morte, et non Mandi, l'héritier du trône. La jeune fille a accepté le terrible sacrifice de l'amour qui l'attache passionnément à Gabriel Barthes, afin d'assurer la continuité dynastique. Gabriel, fou de douleur, persuadé que Maia est morte, a en outre le malheur de perdre son père, assassiné à son tour par les séides de Rudde. Fort heureusement, le jeune individu est adopté par Li, sage entre les sages, qui lui transmet les secrets d'une discipline mentale et physique exceptionnelle. Gabriel devient un autre homme. La justice peut se mettre en marche...
