What it’s about. Marco, un ancien combattant rentré chez lui à Livourne après huit ans passés en captivité, trouve sa femme Giovanna mariée à un autre homme, que le fils croit être le vrai père. Il décide de se suicider mais la rencontre avec Elisa l'en dissuade et il commence à vivre avec la femme et son père dans les bains publics qu'ils gèrent, fermés pour la saison d'hiver.Son ami Nicola le convainc que la seule solution à leurs problèmes est d'émigrer en Argentine mais ils ont besoin d'argent alors il l'implique dans de petits larcins nécessaires pour réunir rapidement la somme. Le vol organisé dans un cinéma se termine mal et Marco voudrait arrêter mais Nicola finit par le faire changer d'avis, planifiant un dernier coup contre le père d'Elisa.
