What it’s about. Le 31 décembre au soir, le grand-père Pettson et son chat, Picpus, s'offrent une partie de pêche sur le lac gelé. Avec dextérité, et malgré son âge, le vieil homme bâtit l'abri, habitué à ce genre de péripéties avec sa longue expérience. Afin de résister au froid et au sommeil, il se remémore avec son chat les souvenirs du passé...
