What it’s about. Sous l'Empire, un jeune soldat pleutre cherche à se marier à tout prix pour éviter un duel. Le mariage "blanc" qu'il organise va devenir "cramoisi". Il épouse une vieille fille (Dominique Lavanant), endurcie à la vie paysanne, à la chasse, et ignorante des choses de l'amour. Celle-ci tombe dans "l'excès contraire" à la suite de sa première expérience avec son nouvel époux. Elle oublie la chasse et rattrape le temps perdu avec son époux qu'elle épuise, et tous les hommes qu'elle peut croiser sur son domaine. Elle rencontre Martin Lamotte, apprend qu'il est puceau et décide de le sauver de cette situation qu'elle trouve dramatique. S'ensuivront un tas de situations extrêmement drôles.
