What it’s about. A la suite d'un accident, Satoru Iwamoto, un jeune garçon de 12 ans, perd sa mère et se retrouve paralysé des deux jambes. Traumatisé, celui-ci reste enfermé chez lui et refuse tout contact extérieur. Son père, désespéré, lui construit un robot humanoïde très évolué, Hinokio, que le petit garçon peut piloter à distance. Hinokio va alors permettre au jeune garçon d'aller à l'école, de faire du sport et de rencontrer des gens sans sortir de sa chambre. Grâce à Hinokio, Satoru redécouvre le monde et peu à peu, se lie d'amitié avec les enfants de son âge et tombe même amoureux
