What it’s about. 1995. Kenji meurt dans l'attentat au gaz sarin du métro de Tokyo. Juste avant de mourir, il repense à une phrase prononcée par son ex-petite amie Haruka : "Qu'est-ce qui dure le plus longtemps : le temps avant la naissance ou celui après la mort ?" Il ignore que, après leur séparation, la jeune femme a commencé à se prostituer. Haruka se glisse aussi parfois la nuit dans l'ancien appartement de leurs amours, où habite désormais un autre couple. Deux ans après Kenji, elle est assassinée par un client dans un hôtel. En 2002, alors qu'ils sont tous les deux morts, Kenji et Haruka se rencontrent à nouveau...
