What it’s about. Dans la Pologne des années 60, quatre jours avant de prononcer ses voeux, Anna, jeune orpheline élevée au couvent, est envoyée par la mère supérieure à la rencontre de sa tante Wanda, qu'elle ne connaît pas. Wanda, en déshabillé, un homme quittant subrepticement sa chambre, se montre d'abord très froide. A la jeune fille elle révèle qu'elle est juive et que les siens ont péri pendant la guerre, enterrés nul ne sait où. Wanda finit par se radoucir et accueille Anna, que ses parents avaient prénommée Ida. Elle décide de partir avec sa nièce dans la ferme de son enfance, à la recherche de témoins des derniers jours de sa famille...
