What it’s about. Jacques Batkin a réussi dans les affaires. Après avoir passé plusieurs années en prison, il est désormais un puissant homme de presse. Sa vie bascule quand son fils, Eddy, tue accidentellement un flic, sous l'influence de la drogue. Il va tout tenter, même convaincre la veuve de la victime de retirer sa plainte, pour sauver cet adolescent qu'il connait finalement si peu. Quand son passé est découvert, il va devoir retrouver les truands, notamment un bijoutier, qui ont fourni la drogue à son fils désormais derrière les barreaux. José Giovanni, qui est passé par la case prison, aborde à nouveau le thème de la rédemption dans ce polar bien ficelé, sous l'influence de Jean-Pierre Melville. Alain Delon est convaincant en père digne et désespéré.
