What it’s about. Entourée de son mari, Achille, de sa fille Arlette, de la surveillante Céleste et des jeunes filles de son institution, Virginie Gerbois, directrice accueille dans l'allégresse son neveu Philémon de Monfilet, major des Polyart et technique. Le jeune lauréat est quelque peu maladroit et original Virginie voudrait marier Arlette et Philémon. Ne se séparant pas d'une précieuse valise, ce dernier rejoint sa cousine dans le fond du jardin, décidé à lui avouer qu'il est « fils-père », et à lui montrer le précieux bébé caché dans la valise. Arlette avoue à son tour aimer en secret André Dargent, brillant chanteur à la radio.
