What it’s about. Dans la Paris de 1418 occupé par les Armagnacs, assiégé par Philippe de Bourgogne, Catherine voit son père et l'homme qu'elle aime lâchement assassinés sur dénonciation de Caboche, de la corporation des bouchers et allié des Bourguinions. Caboche veut faire de Catherine sa femme. Garin grand Connétable de Bourgogne, la lui ravit, mais sera obligé de s'incliner devant le duc Philippe, lui-même épris de Catherine. Celle-ci réussit à s'enfuir de Paris avec une amie. Dans la forêt de Chaillot, elles rencontrent une bande de hors-la-loi...
