What it’s about. Nous sommes en 1978. Théo est cantonnier dans une municipalité d'Ile-de-France. Sans éducation, sans parents, sans famille, il a été livré à lui-même jusqu'à l'âge adulte au point d'avoir un langage basique proportionnel à son développement intellectuel. Deux braqueurs lui proposent un petit boulot de surveillance au cours d'un hold-up sans histoire dans un magasin à grande surface. Mais le hold-up tourne mal et se termine par la mort d'un gendarme, que l'on impute à Théo qui n'a pas eu la présence d'esprit d'échapper aux gendarmes, contrairement aux deux braqueurs. Théo est interrogé dans les locaux de la police judiciaire, jugé puis condamné à mort
