What it’s about. 2046, dans un monde pollué où même les saisons ont disparu, la moitié de la population est incarcérée. Afin de ne plus faire supporter les frais d'emprisonnement aux "bons" citoyens, le gouvernement a donné leur autonomie aux prisons et a construit une enceinte de pierre autour de chacune d'elles. Alors qu'il emmène un condamné, Mickey, dans une de ces forteresses, un policier, Cheung Tai Hoi, se retrouve bloqué à l'intérieur. Il doit se faire passer pour l'autre afin de sauver sa peau. Il rencontre bien vite le maître des lieux, Crow, ainsi qu'une des ses favorites, Ling, et sa fille, Yan...
