Les autres locataires de la résidence ne cache pas leur curiosité face à ce couple très poli mais qui semble vivre reclus. Un jour Seiji, qui s'est emporté pour une broutille, demande a Hinako de faire comme s'il était mort, et se cache sous le plancher. Hinako, impassible, continue d'aller a son travail à mi-temps. L'absence de Seiji ne fait qu'alimenter les commérages de ses voisins.
